FAQs

  • Simply enter your name and email address in our sign-up form.

We will notify you when the next group is ready to launch and you can then join the specific group. Until then, you will get emails with helpful tips and information.

  • We wanted the Gut Check conversations to unfold in a safe and protected space. Weave allows you to engage in conversations behind a randomly generated alias. People can open up under private identities and shift to real names as trust builds.

Weave functions like other social media you have used: you can post and react to other peoples’ posts.

  • Each group works with daily prompts that are aimed at cultivating strategies to manage your gut issues and the mind-body connection. You will interact with both professional coaches and form a community with your peers while engaging in structured conversations.

  • You are expected to follow the community guidelines, which are similar to what you may have seen in other online groups. The goal of the guidelines is for you and everyone else to get the most out of the group. That’s it!

We hope that you will engage with the posts by sharing your reactions, thoughts, and experiences. We encourage you to engage with the community by making your own posts with questions or experiences. However, you can decide on the level of participation that feels best to you.

Meet the Team

Gut Check was started by two psychologists who wanted to deliver convenient mental wellness at an accessible price.

  • Earta is a Licensed Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of Maryland College Park. She specializes in individual, group & family therapy, and telehealth / online video therapy, with experience providing walk-in crisis counseling, treatment of military professionals, and group treatment for the LGBT+ community. Her research focuses on trauma, anxiety, and intolerance of uncertainty. She believes that she’s now better at tolerating uncertainty, though not everyone agrees with her self-assessment.

  • Mark is a Licensed Psychologist with a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University. His services include: psychotherapy & counseling; mentoring & supervision for mental health professionals; consulting for athletes & teams; consulting for hiring decisions & optimal performance. Mark enjoys helping people to cope better and make better decisions. When he’s not in his office working, consulting, or supervising, he’s most likely kayaking.
